Alice in Wonderland 2026

Seabury Hall's ʻAʻaliʻikūhonua Creative Arts Center

June 4th & 5th

Alexander Academy expanded in September 2012 by establishing the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Alexander Academy Performing Company.

The Company's mission is to provide accessible, high-quality dance instruction and performance opportunities to the Maui community. Through the art and discipline of dance, we empower students to embody the aloha spirit, identify their self-respect and compassion, and feel connection. Our values develop socially responsible citizens through connection between mind, body and community.

All students are offered two performance opportunities (Spring and Fall Semesters). While all performances are optional, we encourage performance as an important aspect of dance training. The experience of performing helps build self-esteem and confidence, which can result in better in-school presentations, improved social skills, and strong college and job interview skills.

The rehearsal process is a tremendous learning experience as well. It helps the children develop retention skills, and by working with their classmates on a group performance, they learn the positive aspects of collaborating as a team to create the best end result.

Auditions are held at the beginning of the Spring and Fall Semesters, providing valuable experience for future endeavors.

In the same spirit as the school, the Performing Company offers scholarships to dancers who are unable to perform due to financial barriers.

We are proud to be collaborating with The Sewing Hui
image.png

The Sewing Hui’s mission is to serve the Maui community by creating sewn items for nonprofit organizations in need. The Sewing Hui volunteers are a dedicated team of 100+ residents and visitors who create and sew a variety of projects for Maui. The Sewing Hui was founded by Jennifer Oberg. The first project was in 2020, making 10,000 medical-grade masks for Maui's healthcare providers and first responders.  The volunteers have created over 30,000 items for 60 organizations. Their sewing initiatives benefit keiki, kūpuna, healthcare providers, hospice care, shelters, birthing communities, schools, senior centers, performing arts organizations and other community groups. After the August 2023 wildfire, The Sewing Hui made and collected over 3000 hand-made pillowcases for distribution to shelters, and provided 500 hand-made Christmas stockings to children in need. The resident-volunteers are deeply invested in supporting their island home.  The visitor-volunteers who join the sewing sessions want to give back to Maui during their stay.
